It Takes A Village
We Did It! We started our coffee shop!
Thank you for being a part of the launch party for “Commune Coffee” at our unconventional baby shower on January 11, 2025. We are overwhelmed by the positive responses we received about this event! There will definitely be many more pop up events to come for Commune Coffee after Baby Dulay arrives!
With the creativity and help of our amazing friends and family we actually made it happen! There are many special people that must be thanked for this one!
First, I have to thank my amazing husband, Sunny!!! We totally switched roles for this party! I got to sit behind the computer screen and the chalkboard doing the creative work, while he was the workhorse rearranging almost every piece of furniture in our house the week before the party!
Next, is my family's professional party planning team at the helm of all our events. This particular event was made possible by Lauren and our moms, the twins! It’s truly amazing what these women do in so little time! They are the foundation of the Commune. It is through them I have learned to love bringing people together and creating deep lifelong connections. Sunny recently revealed to me that I want a commune, because I am actually from one! So let’s keep building!
Another commune member who shares the love of bringing people together through food is the lovely Tara. Maybe this is because we share common roots as Italian Rhode Islanders, or because Sunny and Tara were twins in another life…Anyway, a super special thanks goes out to her, with the help of her incredible boyfriend Erik, for sharing her grandmother’s family crepe recipe straight from Paris! This was her soft launch of “Taramisu.” She actually left for Paris the day after the party and is due to return right around Baby Dulay’s arrival. Shouldn’t she open a crepe stand when she returns??? After this party she will have plenty of happy customers!
Last, but definitely not least, is Kyle. How amazing was he?!?!? With the incredible coffee, latte art and homemade chocolate ganache, he spoiled us all! Now you know how I start all my work days! He has fueled my mornings everyday in the city for the past 2 years at Solid State Coffee. We loved this coffee shop so much that we actually moved directly across the street from it! So a huge thanks to him for bringing the best coffee in NY to us in Beacon and making our coffee shop, Commune Coffee, a reality!
Immense love and gratitude goes out to each and everyone of you who traveled from near and far in the snow to be with us on this special day. I couldn’t have wished for more. It was great to see and connect with so many friends that I have felt a little distant from throughout this pregnancy because of all of the changes in life. I value every single one of you that made the trip. It is a privilege and a pleasure to open our home to you. Everyone has been asking me if I have been nesting. I keep wondering…When will it start? It is times like these when we welcome others into our home when the nesting begins.
So my final message to all of you is one of invitation. I hope that once we welcome our little girl into this world we will have many visitors to share in our joy and help us build a loving nest and community for our family! Because it truly takes a village!!!
Love & Thanks,
Sunny, Ericka, Phoebe, and Baby Girl Dulay
